Travel Policy

Hearings outside metro Atlanta area - $125.00 per hour for travel time; plus customary travel expenses including, but not limited to airfare, mileage, car rental, lodging and meals.

Eight hour minimum for all cases outside of metro Atlanta.

Biography

Marquetta J. Bryan has over 20 years of experience as an attorney in private practice and federal government handling cases involving employment, including executive representation, education, civil rights, education, insurance defense and coverage issues, negligence, personal injury, premises liability, contracting and procurement and administrative law matters. Marquetta has also served as outside general counsel to clients and has enjoyed the challenge of gaining knowledge and proficiency in new fields of law as necessary. Marquetta also serves as a neutral hearing officer for ethics and administrative personnel matters.

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Marquetta was a partner with an Atlanta insurance defense law firm that specialized in civil litigation defense, including general liability, medical malpractice and insurance litigation. Marquetta began her legal career with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development as a Trial Attorney/Attorney-Advisor, where she handled contracting and procurement protests, and assisted with various types of litigation, including both affirmative and defensive. Her proficiency in handling a variety of cases has made Marquetta a trusted advisor. As a result, Marquetta has a broad range of knowledge from which to draw in legal situations which is invaluable in helping to resolve disputes with a variety of individuals of various backgrounds and interests.

Marquetta has represented clients before the District Courts of Georgia, the Eleventh Circuit, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the state courts of Georgia, and other administrative hearing bodies, including the State Board of Education. Throughout her decades of legal practice, Marquetta has negotiated settlements to her legal cases helping clients avoid the uncertainties of litigation. In addition, Marquetta regularly conducts trainings, courses, and presentations for legal seminars and conferences, both online and across the country, on topics that include employment law compliance, investigator training, policy development, higher education issues and ethics.

With a passion for resolving disputes and fostering mutual understanding, Marquetta is focused on leveraging her experience to navigate complex legal issues, facilitating productive discussions to ensure that all parties feel heard and respected, and creating a fair and equitable environment for negotiation.

Marquetta earned her J.D., cum laude, from Cleveland State University, where she was a member of Law Review, Vice-Chair of the Student Discipline Tribunal, a Teaching and Research Assistant, and assisted in representing plaintiffs in the Employment Law Clinic. She earned her B.A. from Emory University.

Marquetta joined Henning Mediation in 2025.
