Henning Welcomes Samantha J. Funt to the Panel

Henning Mediation is pleased to welcome Samantha (“Sam”) Funt to our panel of distinguished neutrals.

Sam brings a unique combination of trial experience, practical judgment, and genuine compassion to every dispute she handles. As a partner at Mitchell Shapiro Greenamyre & Funt LLP, she has built a respected practice representing clients in wrongful death, catastrophic injury, medical malpractice, civil rights, and complex business litigation. Years of handling high-stakes matters in state and federal courtrooms have taught her not only the legal issues that drive a case, but the human stories behind them – and what it actually takes in compromise to get a case resolved.  

Sam has spent her career on the front lines of resolution in both the criminal and civil justice systems, giving her a broad perspective: sitting with clients on the hardest days of their lives, negotiating and advising insurers and adjusters, and guiding parties through emotionally charged disputes. She knows the pressures each side of the table faces – the client who yearns to be heard, the adjuster working within real constraints, and the lawyers trying to serve both. Counsel on either side of the “v” will find her prepared, even-handed, and refreshingly candid.

That experience has shaped the kind of mediator she intends to be.

“I want to be the mediator that people choose intentionally – someone who truly invests in the outcome, partners with the parties to build a resolution and evaluates the case as a realistic trial lawyer.”

Sam believes successful mediation requires more than evaluating legal positions; it requires understanding people. Her years of direct client work have taught her how to connect with individuals facing difficult circumstances, listen carefully to competing interests, and develop creative paths toward resolution.

She also sees mediation as a chance to bring fresh energy to the process.

“I’ve spent my career in equal parts, talking directly with clients and in the room with the adjusters, with experience navigating both sides. This is a space where I can bring a fresh, creative voice and I can empower the parties to make decisions they believe in.”
