At Henning Mediation, we are proud to support the next generation of dispute resolution professionals by sponsoring the Ed Henning Award, presented annually by the Dispute Resolution Section of the Atlanta Bar Association. This award recognizes one outstanding student from each of Georgia’s top law schools who demonstrates excellence and a strong commitment to the field of dispute resolution.
This year, we are pleased to highlight Gabriella Haedelt, one of the two recipients representing Emory University School of Law.
Gabriella is a graduate of Boston College and a soon-to-be graduate of Emory University School of Law. During her time in law school, she distinguished herself both academically and in advocacy. She competed on—and later coached—the Jessup International Law Moot Court Team, served as a teaching assistant in First Amendment: Religious Freedom, and worked as a research assistant in advanced appellate advocacy and international law. Her experience also includes internships with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, and two judges. Following graduation, Gabriella will begin her career as a Litigation Associate at a large law firm in New York City.
What makes Gabriella especially deserving of this recognition is not only her impressive résumé, but her perspective on the role mediation plays in the legal system. As she puts it:
Mediation provides a critical alternative to litigation with flexibility and creativity. We need mediation because it is a forum uniquely capable of solving problems and protecting relationships in a neutral and confidential environment.
Her words reflect a deep understanding of what makes mediation so impactful—not just as a process, but as a philosophy.
